Although my associate and I moved to our home over a year ago, my associate and I are just getting around to finding a reputable Heating plus A/C dealer.
In our past, my associate and I found that just because someone called himself an Heating plus A/C specialist, he was no more than a handyman with a heater-looking sticker on his truck. A certified contractor should have his license number clearly marked on his literature plus website. My buddy and I learned not to trust anyone without a license, however for one thing, my associate and I won’t use someone who readily gives an estimate over the PC, how can he possibly know what our HVAC duct, number of registers per room, or type of insulation that my associate and I have? A written estimate from several dealers is an absolute must. My buddy and I insist on getting this in writing because it holds up in court as a legal contract, if need be. And if you don’t do your homework about the most recent Heating plus A/C technology, you may end up with a contractor that’s just trying to unload older models that he’s trying to get rid of. And the contractor has to be certified with our state so that my associate and I know they are qualified… Naturally, anyone can claim that they have years of experience in the Heating plus A/C field, however how would you know unless you study online reviews about the guy? And going with the lowest bidder isn’t consistently the best option, as we’ve learned the taxing way. As the old saying goes: you get what you spend money for. So my associate and I have our list of rules ready as my associate and I start our search for someone to be our new heating, ventilating plus cooling dealer. And my associate and I consistently follow our gut!
