Nobody Had the Key For The Thermostat Box

Nobody Had the Key For The Thermostat Box

It didn’t take long to feel the warmth, and I was so grateful for my bravery (or desperation) to crack open the box

I love my job. The people are great and the work/life balance is perfect for me. I’ve always loved everything about this place, but last year, I had a really big dilemma. The heat and air conditions in my office are horrible. There is no thermostat within my office and the only other thermostat is located down the hallway and it’s locked. Last winter, I found myself shivering and bundled up in blankets in an attempt to stay warm. When that wasn’t enough, I brought a portable heater to sit at my feet under my desk. Since I still wasn’t entirely comfortable, I decided to find the person who had the key to the thermostat. I sent out a bunch of emails and asked everyone I possibly could, but nobody had the key to unlock the box around the thermostat. After searching for weeks and nobody admitting that they had a key, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I cracked open the box around the thermostat and changed the thermostat myself. I knew it was frowned upon to do this, but the air quality was horrible in the office and I wasn’t the only one complaining. If nobody was going to admit that they had a key, then I would solve that issue myself. After breaking the box, I immediately reset the temperature and waited for more heat to flow through my air vents. It didn’t take long to feel the warmth, and I was so grateful for my bravery (or desperation) to crack open the box. Since then, nobody has said anything to me about me breaking it off.
