I’m still sort of in awe with the air conditioning each night as I walk in the door.
And that’s saying something because I work in a building that has great commercial HVAC.
I mean, I even have a thermostat in my office thanks to the zone controlled HVAC. Each day I left work in the past, I was a bit torn. On the one hand, I was excited to see my family. They are an awesome bunch and I’m so lucky to have them. But on the other hand, especially in the Summer, it wasn’t so comfortable inside the central air conditioning. That’s because we inherited a ten year old residential HVAC unit when we bought this house. It was in great shape and had never missed an HVAC appointment. That’s something that the previous owner was very into. With the other renovations that we needed to do to the house, we were good with not having to replace the HVAC equipment. But I had no idea just how long that old heat pump would last. Of course, we kept up with the heating maintenance in the Fall followed by an air conditioning tune up in the Spring. Still, it just kept running and running. But the older it got, the less efficient it became no matter the HVAC maintenance. So last Summer was particularly uncomfortable. But this Summer, I’m charging out of the commercial HVAC of the office to get home. It’s like a new place when I open the door and walk inside the central air conditioning. I can’t believe what a tremendous upgrade this new residential HVAC has been for our home.
