I’ve had my eye on a new smart thermostat for months now.
My old thermostat was over 10 years old and it could only be programmed to change the temperature manually.
I found the thermostat really difficult to work with and almost impossible to change the settings. Because of this, I never actually programmed the thermostat because it was too time consuming and frustrating. Whenever an HVAC professional would come to my house and service the HVAC system, he would ask me about programming the thermostat, but I’d refuse. Every time I refused, the HVAC professional would tell me how beneficial it was to have the thermostat programmed. A programmed thermostat made an HVAC system run more efficiently because you weren’t heating or cooling an empty house. I understood this and I wanted to have my thermostat programmed, but like I said before, it was too hard to manage. When smart thermostats were introduced to the market, I began researching their benefits. I loved that they were WIFI capable and they were geo tracking, but I loved how easy they were to program. Most of them even programmed themselves over time once the smart thermostat picked up on your temperature preferences. Because the smart thermostat was able to program itself, it was able to save households hundreds of dollars over time. I want a smart thermostat really badly for my house, but I’m waiting for a sale so I don’t have to spend quite as much to upgrade. Hopefully a sale will pop up soon!
