My wife and I hired an HVAC contractor to clean and service the fireplace and the chimney.
The fireplace had not been used in a couple of years, but we were in for a colder than usual winter and my wife and I wanted to be prepared.
The HVAC contractor carefully cleaned and serviced the fireplace. He even cleaned the chimney. When the HVAC service contractor was on the roof checking on the chimney, he noticed some issues with the roof that needed to be fixed. The HVAC contractor got me up on the roof so he could show me where the damage was located. I nearly fell through the roof because it was so soft and falling apart. The HVAC contractor gave me the name of his brother. His brother owns a roofing company and he promised me that he would do a great job. I contacted the roofing company while the HVAC contractor was still there. I told the man on the phone that I was referred by the owner’s brother and that got me priority access. The owner of the roofing company got on the phone and asked me a couple of questions. Within an hour, the owner of the company was standing at my front door knocking. He wanted to give me an estimate and didn’t charge anything at all. After I was finished with the fireplace and the chimney service, I made an appointment to get the contractor out to the house to fix the issues with the roof before they became worse.
