Saturday was an extremely windy day, but I still had to work.
- I had a couple of furnace repair jobs on the schedule.
During one of the furnace repair jobs, a lady asked me to climb up to the roof to check on the condition of her chimney. She was already using the fireplace, so I went to the roof to perform an investigative service. I honestly didn’t see any problems with the fireplace. It looks like it was in pretty good shape and there was no soot or black tar inside of the chimney. I did notice a couple of spots on the roof where the shingles needed to be tacked down. While I was making my way to the other side of the roof, a strong gust of wind nearly knocked me off my feet. It did knock my ladder to the ground. There was no one else working with me at the time. I was beginning to wonder how I was going to get off of the roof with no one else to help me with the ladder. I recognized a young guy who was walking his dog down the street. I started yelling for the guy to get his attention. When he saw me standing on the roof, he walked over to the residential house with his dog. I asked the guy if he could help me out by setting up the ladder. The guy tied his dog to the fire hydrant and helped me get down off the roof. I gave him my business card so he could call for a free residential HVAC maintenance tune-up.
