Portable air conditioners aren’t great for cooling a large house or two bedroom apartment, but they can be perfect for adding a little bit of extra cooling where you need it.
I have a portable AC unit in my home and I use it frequently during the summer when I have to cook or bake. In the summer, cooking and baking causes a lot of excess heat to enter the house. I turn on the portable AC unit before I start cooking. The temperature cools down very quickly to a brisk and chilly 68°. After I start cooking or baking, I turn the air conditioner back on. The air conditioner has a dehumidifier option that works well too. Sometimes I toggle back and forth between the dehumidifier and the air conditioner. Since I started using the portable AC unit while I am cooking, I have been much more comfortable. I never used to like to cook or bake much at all during the summer, but now I don’t mind at all. As long as the kitchen is cool, I could spend all day baking and cooking for my family. Last weekend I made three batches of cookies on the same day as well as lasagna for dinner. My husband was happy and the kids were very surprised. Everyone likes my cooking, even all of the neighborhood kids. There’s always someone eating dinner at my house that doesn’t belong to me.
