Our town doesn’t have a lot of money. It used to be a coal mining town but not anymore. Most everyone is getting government aid. That is why it took us so long before we were able to replace the air conditioner in our church building. It is hard to tithe when you can barely put food on the table. But the church has needed a new air conditioner for over 2 years now. The old air conditioner got really tepid and then stopped working all together. We were able to pay for an HVAC technician to take a look at it but there was nothing that could be done to save the 20 year old air conditioner. It was time for a new one. Someone brought in a used window air conditioning unit to tide us over until we could afford a new central air conditioning unit. That took 2 very hot years. So when we finally saved up enough for the new air conditioner it was cause for celebration. The HVAC technician came back and honored the original quote. He got the new air conditioner all installed while the rest of us started setting up the potluck. By the time cold air was coming out of our ducts our potluck was in full swing. Everyone had a great time. Even the HVAC technician had a plate of my fried chicken. Overall it was a good potluck and we should do this more often. The potluck I mean. I hope the church doesn’t have any more expensive repairs for a long long time.
